Fiesta Bowl Grant

LOCAL NONPROFIT RECEIVES $25,000 GRANT FROM FIESTA BOWL CHARITIES

Phoenix, AZ – November 28, 2012 – The Arizona Dream Builder Foundation, a non-profit community organization, has been awarded a $25,000 grant by Fiesta Bowl Charities. The grant will be used to continue to provide “Dream Internships” to high schools seniors who demonstrate a commitment to ”service” in their lives, schools, and communities by rewarding them with paid internships. This grant will allow the ADBF to extend the Dream Intern program to local small businesses.

“This grant will allow us to place interns with small businesses which often have limited resources or ability to secure interns,” said ADBF Founder and President Valerie Churchwell. “Dream interns will gain exposure to small business giving the students a better understanding of the workplace; the small businesses will benefit from new talent, creative ideas, excitement to learn and cutting edge knowledge the students will bring.”

The Arizona Dream Builder Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established to provide educational opportunities to youth in Arizona for the purpose of cultivating life-long leaders for social justice. The Dream Intern program provides 8-week paid internships to select Arizona High School graduates. As of June 2012, 27 Dream Interns have been placed with 8 companies, accounting for approximately 9000 hours of work skills development and over $65,000 earned in wages by its students. The Fiesta Bowl Charities has a history of commitment to work with organizations that contribute to their communities through Youth, Sports, Education, and Human Services. 220 applications were submitted for this grant cycle; the Arizona Dream Builder Foundation was one of 23 successful organizations selected from across the state.
